Justin is a full-service city with municipal utilities and a strong dedication to constructing and maintaining excellent infrastructure to accommodate the City’s projected rapid growth.
The City has recently begun a water line replacement program to upgrade aging water lines throughout the City’s Old Town area. The first phase completed in mid 2019 and the second phase is expected to begin in early 2020. The City is a member of the Upper Trinity Water District which allows the provision of excellent treated water to the residents and businesses. The City has also begun the initial stages of planning for an expansion to the wastewater treatment plant to accommodate the planned growth. The plant is also being evaluated for a potential redesign to serve as a regional wastewater treatment plant in the future.
The City is committed to improving roadway infrastructure which is evidenced by the recent election to designate direct funding from sales taxes to City street maintenance and repair. The first phase of the new Street Improvement Program is set to begin in early 2020 with the reconstruction of several city streets, as well as a significant annual maintenance contract which will include overlays, microsealing, and other minor repairs.
The FM 156 expansion is set to complete by the end of 2019. This expansion brings a rural roadway with one lane in each direction to an urban thoroughfare with two lanes in each direction, ample turn lanes and median cuts, and planned landscaping along the 4.2 mile stretch from SH 114 through the north end of Justin.
The FM 156 expansion included a realignment of the lanes further to the east near the BNSF rail lines, which allows for the creation of a new downtown parking area. This $1.6 million project will include over 200 parking spaces in Justin’s Old Town Business District upon completion.
The City has multiple providers of high-speed internet serving our new subdivisions. Additionally, one provider has allocated significant capital improvements to bring fiber optic internet to the existing residents and businesses throughout Justin. Spectrum will provide fiber to the home for video, voice and high speed internet with options of speed up to 1 GB. The planned buildout of the City of Justin is scheduled for fiber to the neighborhood with coax to the home. Services will include video, voice and high speed internet with options of speed up to 1 GB. Upon completion of the buildout, Spectrum will provide business telephone and business grade internet - both by coax and fiber.
