Completed Projects
Street Construction Project
The Community Development Corporation (Type B) funded over $700,000 towards a street construction project for the development of new roadways adjacent to the City-owned property to promote development of a new commercial district. The construction of Wallace Drive, Wilkerson Lane, and Tally Blvd were completed in 2020 and has already spurred significant commercial interest in that area.
The CDC board will also be providing funding for the roundabout landscaping once that is bid with a separate downtown lighting and landscaping project.
AutoZone is one of the first successes that has materialized from that investment. They opened for business in the fall of 2020 and have been on the leading stores in the region!
Downtown Parking Project
The 156 expansion project allowed for an expanded downtown parking area. The Economic Development Board (Type A) contributed $600,000 to this project allowing 200 additional parking spaces to be constructed. The new parking spaces have allowed for more access for community events such as the Old Town Christmas Event as well!
Murals
The Economic Development Board and Community Development Board each contributed $7,000 for a mural in the old town area on 4th Street. The mural was taken from an historical black and white photo taken in Justin. The artist, Adam Davenport, is interested in partnering again in the future for more murals in town.
